What is the BHE Annual Fund?
The Annual Fund is the central fundraiser of the Barton Hills PTA. Barton Hills Elementary strives for excellence in education, and parental funding takes us a small but important step beyond what AISD moneys provide our campus.

Why should I give?
Many PTAs ask their students to sell items such as gift wrap or cookie dough, where retailers take a large cut of profits. When you give to the Annual Fund, all money goes directly to programs that support your child’s education. This year’s Annual Fund is budgeted to raise $25,000, which will go toward meeting budgeted expenditures of $57,000.

Where does my money go?
In supporting the Annual Fund, we will continue to provide PTA-sponsored programs and resources that enrich your child’s education, such as:
- Stipends for all teachers for classroom supplies
- Classroom and general school equipment
- Training and development for teachers
- Partial salary for Computer Lab Technician ($8,000)
- Library books, author visits, Book Buddies program
- Funding for cultural arts presentations
- New Accelerated Math software, Math Buddies program
- Academic enrichment programs (Odyssey of the Mind, Lego League, Math Pentathlon)
- Scholarships

How much should I give?
Our fundraising goal for 2009-2010 is 100% participation from BHE families, so please give what you can. Consider this:
· In ‘08—’09 the average family gift was $125
· If every family gave $100, we’d raise about $30,000

- Grandparents: Golden Eagle *
- $200+: Bald Eagle
- $150: Eagle
- $100: Eaglet
- $50: Hatchling
- $25: Nest Egg**
*Any amount gifted by a grandparent will be recognized at the Golden Eagle level.
**A Nest Egg donation covers the cost of one directory, one t-shirt, one yearbook, and one PTA membership. All donations over $25.00 are tax deductible. Barton Hills Elementary PTA is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization.
All donors will be recognized on our Barton Hills PTA website and in PTA publications. Any amount is acknowledged and appreciated!

Can I donate monthly?
Can’t give as much as you’d like to right now? Here are some ways you can help us reach our fundraising goals:
- Drop a check made out to BHEPTA in our mailbox each month
- Visit the BHEPTA website monthly to pay
- Set up an automatic draft with our treasurer (attach a voided check and indicate the amount to be given each month)
A small monthly donation given each month of the school year will add up!

BHE Annual Fund FAQ
Q. I already pay property taxes. Why should I donate to the PTA?
A. Our property taxes finance all AISD schools. AISD provides funding to each school based on student enrollment and the number of economically disadvantaged students. PTA fundraising provides an opportunity to enhance the basic funding allocation.
Q. We just had bond elections. Won’t BHE receive significant technology funding?
A. At this time we have limited details about what the technology bond will provide for BHE or a timeline for implementation. Oftentimes it takes years for bond money to reach our campus. With our projected 2008-09 technology budget from AISD at $4/student, our PTA has the opportunity to complement and expand technology purchases.
Q. I’d like to make a larger donation but I’m unable to now. Are payment plans available?
